The scenerio: Two girls, Madeline and Kathleen, have plans for Friday night to write a song. Kathleen is sick and home from school. Madeline's boyfriend asks her on a date. Madeline says yes, fully aware of her plans with Kathleen and knowing the golden rule of "Friends Before Boyfriends".

Madeline has been seeing Kathleen at least four times a week for over a year. Madeline's boyfriend is 18 and won't be around very long. Madeline goes to a different school than her boyfriend.
Kathy, I know it seems like you're second to him, but he's not the one I tell all of my secrets too. He doesn't know me like you do. He doesn't know my weaknesses and my strong points. Hell, I'm a mystery to him. You are one of my best friends, Kathy. You have no idea how much you mean to me. My bond to you is greater than any man could ever hope for with me.
